Jamu’s founder, Michelle, learned how to make Jamu from a traditional Balinese recipe infusing natural turmeric and ginger roots with lemon juice and other spices for good health. “I started making Jamu when I had some arthritis in my hip and had to stop taking anti-inflammatory medications. Jamu really helped to manage the pain and inflammation but I also found that because you drink Jamu, rather than take a pill it’s very soothing for upper respiratory tract infections – something that I was very prone to before taking Jamu on a regular basis. My whole family now takes some every day!

In the summer we take a 50-100ml shot every morning and in the winter time when it’s cold we top up the cup with boiling water (1:4 with boiling water) to make a soothing infusion. When we feel that sore throat coming on or are just run down we have another Jamu during the day and especially before bed. Before I started taking Jamu I would be constantly battling one thing after another in winter time. I haven’t suffered a single cold, flu, sinus, laryngitis or tonsillitis infection since Jamu became part of our regular daily routine!

I certainly considered myself health conscious before I started taking Jamu, having a background in Food Science and Nutrition (RMIT, BSc – Food Science). I have been a long time sufferer of Irritable Bowl Syndrome (IBS), Hayfever and psoriasis. Eating a wholefoods diet and paying attention to stress have significantly improved my symptoms for these ailments over the years, but since taking Jamu I also find it to be very soothing for gut inflammation and because turmeric and ginger support the immune system, my hayfever/psoriasis symptoms are also more easy to manage”.

As with most traditional and natural products that support health, Jamu isn’t a “cure all”. One 50ml shot of Jamu is not going to cure a cold or reduce all the inflammation in your body. Our approach to taking Jamu and other natural supplements and products is simple: they are best taken regularly and for sustained periods of time as part of a healthy diet. Jamu supports wellness – we are not claiming to cure disease – but the ingredients in Jamu have been scientifically shown to support many of the bodies primary systems including brain health, gut health, circulatory and the immune system! Wouldn’t you like to know the feeling of being truly well?
